💤 X Phoenix, Phase II – The Tower That Napped
Once hyped as a vibrant 25-story extension of the X Phoenix lifestyle brand—complete with 592 beds and a sky-high attitude—Phase II slammed the brakes in September 2023. And the silence? Deafening.
📉 Phoenix officials say they’re still waiting on developer The X Co. to grab some new financing and get the cranes moving again.
🧾 Meanwhile, a storm of mechanic’s liens and lawsuits has rolled in from contractors owed tens of millions for work already done.
📅 As of Jan. 15, the official word from X Phoenix: construction is still paused. (No plot twist. Yet.)
🏢 One Camelback – The 85% Club
Just down the road, One Camelback was this close to being the ultimate office-to-luxury-apartment glow-up—until it hit the same construction wall in 2023. The 215,000+ sq ft building was supposed to turn into 163 luxe apartments with major city-views energy.
But since Delphi Financial Group scooped up the property in a trustee sale last November, progress has been... meh.
🔐 In June, someone at least got permission to remove an old bank vault.
☕ In March, there was talk of adding a coworking space and a trendy little coffee bar... but the city never approved it. (Sad espresso sounds.)
The Vibe Right Now?
Two high-profile projects. Big promises. Giant question marks.
Will X Phoenix rise again with a new financing fairy godmother? Will One Camelback serve up cappuccinos or stay stuck in neutral?
